The year 2016 was the 30th Anniversary of the Ameican Silver Eagle. To commemorate the 30 years the US Mint in West Point, NY decided to put to on the edge of the coin inscribe 30th Anniversary. That is the very first time the US Mint has ever done that on a coin. The label also has a picture of former President Ronald Reagsn who signed off on the coin in 1986. Hence the 30th Anniversary
